Java Monster Mean Bean is what you could refer to as the original Java monster and the “classic flavor”. It is practically the origin of the non carbonated, coffee with cream in an energy drink can formula. Java Monster to my knowledge combined “X” + Energy before Monster Rehab (Tea + Energy), before Juice Monster (Juice + Energy), AND before Monster Hydro (Water + Energy) did. Mean Bean was introduced back in 2009 with two other flavors, Big Black (Discontinued) and Loca Moca. So with this history and what not surrounding this particular drink, Java Monster Mean Bean, you would expect it to great, right?
Right. It’s fantastic.
This drink is so well executed. You would expect an original plain coffee bean flavor to be kind of average and meh when compared to the colorfully flavored Java Monsters such as Salted Caramel, Irish Blend, and Loca Moca. However, Mean Bean utilizes it’s cream flavor to bring a vanilla touched flavor as well as somewhat of a mocha flavor as well, it’s like the best of both coffee flavored worlds in one drink. Java Monster Mean Bean is by far superior to the disappointment that was Java Monster Vanilla Light, and is only slightly better than the phenomenal drink that is Java Monster Loca Moca. The coffee in this drink is pretty impressive as well, Monster Energy sure brews a mean (bean) vat of coffee. The texture of this drink is so smooth and milky as well, not too thick, not too thin, it’s thinck. This drink is not overwhelmingly sugary or sweet either, that is the thing about this drink, it uses each of it’s ingredients in such a way that can only benefit it’s taste. I am very impressed, there isn’t much more to add.
So overall, like I have mentioned several times, great drink. There is nothing wrong with this drink, I would love to hear a negative take on this drink because I can’t think of anything myself. I will say I still enjoyed Java Monster Salted Caramel more by just a hair though. If you love coffee and you have never tried Java Monster Mean Bean, then you are only doing yourself a disservice if I am being honest. If you enjoy Starbucks Iced Coffee, the kind in the glass bottles, then I could see you enjoying this drink a lot, both drinks are sort of in the same lane. There is a RANKED Java Monster post in the works where I rank each flavor of Java Monster in order from worst to best. Once I get the Java Monster Irish Blend review published, you can expect that Ranking to come out afterwards.
